A scholarship has been launched in honor of Caleb Wilson, the Southern University student who died after collapsing during an Omega Psi Phi fraternity ritual last month.

On Friday (March 21), rapper Boosie Badazz announced that he was starting the Caleb Wilson Memorial Scholarship at his annual "Boosie Bash" festival at Southern University, per Baller Alert.

Boosie said the scholarship will honor Wilson's life and serve as a fund to support other students pursuing their education at Southern.

The announcement comes after Wilson, 20, died on February 26 after participating in an Omega Psi Phi initiation event. Wilson was allegedly standing in line with other pledges when he was forced to take punches to the chest as part of the initiation process. After being hit, Wilson reportedly collapsed and had a seizure. The Southern University student was taken to the hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

In the wake of Wilson's death, Caleb McCray, a graduate of Southern University and member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, was arrested earlier this month on charges of criminal hazing and manslaughter. Isaiah Smith and Kyle Thurman are also facing felony hazing charges. According to reports, Smith's father, Todd, leased the warehouse where the alleged hazing occurred.

Boosie, a Baton Rouge native and longtime supporter of Southern, is holding his annual festival at Southern University's mini-dome. The Boosie Bash will include performances on Saturday (March 22) and Sunday (March 23) from GloRilla, Sexyy Red, DaBaby, B.G., Snug, Big Boogie, and more.
