Quavo is taking action to help alleviate the pain that families in Atlanta are suffering following a traumatic weekend.

On Thursday, July 31, the Migos rapper and the Rocket Foundation announced that they launched an Emergency Trauma Therapy Fund to provide urgent mental health support to those who have been affected by the recent outbreak of shootings in the Atlanta area. Last weekend, 49 people were shot during a wave of gun violence. Two people directly connected to The Rocket Foundation’s grantee network — Deshawn Johnson, a Rocket Foundation youth camper and Aaron Hines a.k.a “Coach Ball,” a leader from Offenders Alumni Association —were killed as a result.

The emergency fund will provide mental health resources for children, teens and families impacted by the shootings. Additionally, it will provide trauma expert therapeutic services, offer mentorship and additional support in affected neighborhoods. The fund will also support organizations like HOPE Hustlers and Offender Alumni, who are actively spearheading intervention efforts to end the ongoing cycle of gun violence.

Quavo founded The Rocket Foundation in 2022 to honor the life of his nephew, TakeOff, who passed away after he was shot in Houston. Since its inception, the organization has partnered with 10 nonprofits working on community-led solutions to end gun-related violence including Offenders Alumni Association, HOPE Hustlers, Community Justice Action Fund and LIVE FREE. The Rocket Foundation is committed to creating a network of leading community violence intervention organizations nationwide to gather to create solutions to end gun violence.
