North Carolina Eatery Serves The Best 'Cheap Eats' In The State

You don't have to break the bank in order to enjoy a delicious dish that doesn't compromise on flavor just because it comes with a lower price tag. Plenty of restaurants offer diners options that pack a punch for a small price, giving them the biggest bang for their buck.

Cheapism searched for the best "cheap eats" around the country and compiled a list of the top dish in every state that will cost $12 or less, from gooey, chocolatey desserts to regional takes on classic dishes. According to the site, the best inexpensive dish in all of North Carolina are the pork skins served at Lexington Barbecue in Lexington, while the offering at Skylight Inn BBQ in Ayden was named the runner-up.

Here's what Cheapism had to say about the best cheap dish in North Carolina:

"Lexington Barbecue roasts pork shoulders for almost half-a-day over hickory coals and serves up the skin for $4 and sandwiches and slaw for $5 or under. For Eastern style, head to Skylight Inn BBQ, where a whole hog gets cooked over wood and served on small trays for $9 with one side and bread."
